Ezekiel 37: 1-14

When God created the human race, He placed in us the special ability to choose our words and speak them forth at will. That ability makes the human being different from all other creatures, even the angels. Man’s unique ability to choose and speak words has become a key factor in the development of the human race. God created everything through the use of words (Heb. 11:3) and he has place the same anointing in man to be able to re-create “his world” through the same power of words (Prov. 18:21). In Genesis 1, the words “And God said” alone appear ten times which gives credence to the inherent power of words as a source of divine authority. So, all of the power that it took to have dominion over the earth was a part of man from the very beginning. Man was made out of that power. So, man had total authority to rule as god over every living creature on earth, and he was to rule by speaking words. His words would carry the power and anointing of God that was in him from the time he was first created.

Creative Power of Words
“In the beginning was the word…through him all things were made that has been made” (John 1:1, 3). God places a high priority on words. He has never done anything without saying it first, as we have seen from chapter one of Genesis. In the same way, all the blessings of God are embedded in his words (Eph. 1:3). To locate these blessings, you need to first find them in the word and then declare them into existence. These blessings are outline in Revelation 5:12: Power, riches, wisdom, strength, honour, glory, and blessing. Whenever God wants to release his blessings on humanity, what he does is to send the word first, “So is my word that goes out from my mouth; it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11). It therefore means that before you can exercise your authority over life situations and challenges, you need to first establish yourself in the word.

The Word in Your Mouth
“But what does it say? The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart; that is the word of FAITH that we proclaim” (Rom. 10:8). This means God has put the same creative power in your mouth (Prov. 18:21). Your tongue, though little, is one of the most powerful organ of your body. God put it there so you can engage it to take charge of your situation. Through it, the power of God is released and divine authority is exercised.
James 3: 1-12 further reinforces the power embedded in your tongue. One, there is nothing in this earth so great or so powerful, including the physical body, that it cannot be controlled by the tongue. Two, the entire course of nature and the circumstances surrounding every human being are controlled by that person’s tongue. The implication of this is that your tongue is the deciding factor in your life. No matter how fierce the storm or how serious the problem, your tongue will turn it. No storm is so big that you, as a believer, cannot overcome it with God’s word in your mouth. Your confession will control your ship in the storm.

Healing for your Tongue
“When Israel came out of Egypt, Jacob from a people of foreign tongue, Judah became God’s sanctuary, Israel his dominion” (Psalm 114:1). For God’s words to produce expected results in your life when you speak it, your tongue must remained sanctified. You must keep lies, falsehood, obscene, coarse and filthy communication out of your mouth (Psalm 34:12-14; Eph. 4:25, Jn. 8:44, Js. 3:1-12). Your words must be seasoned with grace all the time (Eph.4:29, Col. 2:15). For this to happen, you must be filled with the word richly (Col. 3:15).

Your authority is corrupted when you misuse your tongue. A good example is Prophet Isaiah. Until God sanctified his tongue with a live coal, his authority was undermined (Isaiah 6:6). Let you tongue be ready always to accommodate the words of God so you can change your world (Jer. 1:9, 10).
