“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” – Ephesians 6:10-12

Satan’s number One ploy is to keep your attention on the experiences of life. He will keep you trying to analyze what happened to you and why. He will try to sell you the lie so many religious people have bought – that the storms of life come on you to teach you. As long as you believe that, Satan can keep you involved in those storms and see to it that you never live the victorious life. Satan will say to you: “You’re not going to make it” if you agree with him, he will run roughshod over you. He will push you as far as he can. But I want you to realize that Satan can be stopped.

Spiritual Warfare Is Real

The Bible clearly states that the purpose for which Christ was born was to destroy the works of Satan (1 John 2:8). We know that Christ completed His mission on the cross. Scripture clearly states that Christ’s job description was the exact antithesis of the enemy’s. According to John 10:10, Christ came to bring life; but Satan came “to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” Satan is relentless in his attempts to undermine the plans and purposes of God. He is skillful at even disguising himself in order to remain undetected.

As believers, we need not be afraid, but be aware and empowered with the knowledge that we have the ability to identify the works of the enemy. God has given us His power to tread on serpents, scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy so that according to Luke 10:19, “Nothing shall by any means hurt (us).”
Our victory is assured in Christ. This is because we have been made to sit together with Christ in the heavenly places. This means we jointly rule with Christ in the heavenly realms. This is good news because the spiritual controls the physical. This status of ours gives us a hedge over the forces of the kingdom of darkness. However, you have to equip yourself with the necessary knowledge of the provision God has made for you to live victoriously and fulfill your leadership mandate.

Renew your mind with the word

“And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Rom 12:2)
The starting point for a victorious Christian life is in the mind. Remember that the quality of your walk with God is a function of the quality of His word in your heart. The word of God is the sword of the Spirit (Eph. 6:17) with which to fight the devil when he comes against you with all his schemes. It is your responsibility to allow the word of God to dwell in your heart in all wisdom (Col. 3:16). God asks us to meditate on the word day and night and to never allow it to depart from our mouth (Joshua 1:8). The word of God is creative and powerful in its effect and the devil recognizes this truth (Heb 4:12). When the word of God saturates your mind, then you are ready to stand against the devil on the day of battle when he comes with his attack. You must therefore, learn to say exactly what the word of God says if you want to stop the devil and his activities around you.

It does not matter where you are carrying out your leadership responsibility; the fact remains that you must be ready to engage in spiritual warfare. The arch enemy remains the devil who does not want God’s purpose to be established on the earth. You as a leader is a representative of God who must ensure that God’s purpose is firmly rooted in your sphere of operation. To do this will obviously involve combating the devil and his agents in battle. So, get ready!
