Accessing Your Assets in the Kingdom (Part I)
I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints. (Eph 1:16-18)
You must know how to access what belong to you in the Kingdom of God. The fact that they are yours does not mean you enjoy them automatically. Just like having the right key does not mean having access to the house until the key is practically and literarily applied to the door.
In the same way, there are paths to follow to gain access to your assets in the Kingdom of God. We shall be considering two of such in this section:
- Access through Jesus Christ:
There is no other way to get to the father except through Jesus. He is the greatest key through which the door to the father is opened. Jesus himself said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Jesus is our advocate who plead our case before God continuously. The Bible says “…We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (2 John 2:1).
Jesus is our high priest who has gone to prepare the way to the Father for us through the offering of His body. We can now, through His redemptive work, come boldly to the Father. The Hebrew writer says, “Seeing then that we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the son of God, …let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrew 4:14,16). Besides, we now have the privilege of using his name to place a demand on heaven. His name is the highest force on earth (Phil. 2:10-11).
- Access through the Word of God:
Every of God’s blessing for your life is coded in pages of scriptures. When you are ignorant of God’s word you live below God’s expectation for your life and the devil takes advantage of this to keep you in bondage. What you need for living is more than your daily physical food; you also need spiritual diet of the word that will keep you healthy and robust. Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). Why? This is because “The entrance of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple” (Psalm 119:130). The revelation of the word of God opens your mind up to the understanding of what belong to you in the kingdom. You must therefore keep your mind renewed on the daily basis by the word so you might understand the will of God that is good, perfect and acceptable (Rom. 12:2-3). Again, God’s word is the eternal manual for our successful adventure on earth. Joshua was enjoined to give attention to the daily meditation of the word so that he could experience unending success. (Joshua 1:8)
